‘Road Trip’ is a limited edition print taken from an original collage of the same name.
Conceptually, ’Road Trip’ is Bonnie and Clyde’s response to the claustrophobia of Brexit Britain: a celebration of freedom, of our human desire to hit the open road and to explore hidden corners of the globe. The piece incorporates a series of self-taken photographs, which Bonnie and Clyde has collaged together with layers of paint, pigment, and paper to create a textured and dizzying perspective. At the centre of the print sits a garage space, crafted from a mash-up of urban structures, which Bonnie and Clyde has surrounded with patches of verdure, sky, and sea. Geometric blocks of black and grey against white evoke the roads which, in Bonnie and Clyde’s surreal vision, are never straight and narrow but always twisting and turning into unknowable adventures and unforeseeable futures.
